The IT Intern at Kenya Network Information Centre (KENIC) role is designed for recent graduates entering the IT field. You will support both internal teams and external clients, troubleshoot technical issues, and participate in documentation and system maintenance tasks. This is a working internship, not a shadowing placement—you will own tasks and deliver measurable output.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to internal staff and external clients, diagnosing and resolving issues as assigned
• Conduct WHOIS checks and perform domain name cleanup tasks as part of registry operations
• Assist with troubleshooting of systems, networks, and applications under supervision
• Create and maintain systems documentation to support operational knowledge and handover processes
• Complete additional technical tasks assigned by supervisors that align with registry and network operations
• Participate in daily support activities and contribute to meeting team targets

Requirements & Qualifications

• Recent graduate with a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related IT discipline
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel for documentation and data management
• Foundational understanding of network protocols and system administration concepts
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices (preferred)
• Ability to gather relevant technical information through practical investigation and develop clear solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with technical and non-technical staff
• Demonstrated accountability—you meet deadlines, keep appointments, and take initiative to solve problems
• Capability to work as part of a team, taking feedback constructively and contributing ideas for process improvement
