The IT Associate will serve as the first point of contact for staff technical issues, manage hardware and network infrastructure, and champion digital tools adoption across the organization. You’ll work with teams in both countries, troubleshoot systems at desktop and server levels, and contribute to IT policy implementation and security compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person and remote IT support to staff across Kenya and Tanzania, using ticketing systems, remote access tools, and virtual support sessions to resolve technical issues quickly.
- Manage the maintenance and servicing of printers and related office equipment, including inventory control of consumables and supplies.
- Set up and support boardroom technology infrastructure, including Logitech devices and display systems, to ensure virtual and hybrid meetings function reliably.
- Configure and deploy new laptops according to established build specifications, ensuring devices are ready for users and meet organizational standards.
- Conduct training sessions for new staff on IT policies, system procedures, and best practices for using organizational tools and platforms.
- Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN networks, including routers, switches, and wireless access points, to ensure stable connectivity and minimal downtime.
- Maintain all PCs and laptops with current antivirus definitions, security patches, and system updates; identify and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the Asset Tiger system, tracking IT and communication equipment throughout their lifecycle, managing user access, generating reports, and coordinating proper disposal.
- Coordinate with regional and global IT teams on system stability, escalated technical issues, and alignment with organizational IT standards.
- Administer collaboration platforms such as Trello, onboarding users and training teams on effective use for workflow management.
- Participate in the AI Taskforce, exploring and implementing digital innovation and technology-driven solutions to support program operations.
- Monitor vehicle tracking systems for compliance with authorized usage and speed limits; troubleshoot tracker device issues in collaboration with service providers.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- 2–3 years of hands-on IT support experience in a multi-office or regional environment, preferably within an NGO or similar organization.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in Windows-based desktop and server environments.
- Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and maintaining LAN/WAN infrastructure, including network hardware and wireless systems.

- Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in language that non-technical users understand.
- Demonstrated interest in exploring digital transformation, automation, and AI tools to improve operational efficiency.
What to Expect
- You will work in a multi-office setting with regular contact between Kenya and Tanzania locations, requiring flexibility and responsiveness across time zones.
- The role combines reactive support (responding to user requests) with proactive infrastructure maintenance, so you’ll balance daily user issues with longer-term system improvements.
- Opportunities exist to lead small IT improvement projects by month six and to influence digital adoption across the organization through training and collaboration with programs.
