About the Role
We are recruiting an IT Administrator Assistant Job (50K) for a leading distributor of food and beverage ingredients operating across Kenya. This is a full-time position based in Kenya, reporting to the Managing Director and Senior Business Development Manager. The role centres on delivering hands-on technical support and systems administration across the organisation’s IT infrastructure, business applications, and end-user computing environment.
You will be the first point of contact for staff experiencing hardware, software, network, or system issues. Working alongside the Systems Administrator, you will maintain operational continuity of critical systems including ERP, inventory management, email, office networks, and websites. This is practical, results-focused work in a distribution and logistics setting where system uptime directly impacts warehouse operations, order processing, and supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver first-level technical support to staff on hardware, software, email, printer, network connectivity, and device issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and mobile devices across the organisation.
- Diagnose and resolve system failures, network connectivity problems, and user access issues, escalating complex matters to the Systems Administrator or external vendors when required.
- Assist users with troubleshooting and system navigation for ERP, inventory, accounting, and other business applications; maintain support logs and issue tracking records.
- Monitor server performance, support system backups and data recovery procedures, and assist with user account provisioning, password management, and access permissions.
- Support software installations, updates, antivirus management, email system configuration, and routine IT infrastructure optimisation.
- Assist in maintaining LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity; monitor network uptime, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and coordinate with internet service providers and IT vendors as needed.
- Maintain IT asset records including licences, warranties, and system configurations; track equipment inventory and coordinate repair and maintenance activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in IT support, systems administration, or related technical roles.
- Practical knowledge of computer hardware, networking, Windows operating systems, and systems administration fundamentals.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and business applications; experience in FMCG, distribution, warehousing, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certifications, or Cisco Certifications are advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritise multiple tasks, work independently and within teams, and maintain detailed documentation.
