About the Role
Save the Children is recruiting an Intern Data Analyst, Data Insights to provide targeted support to Country Offices as part of its PRIME data remediation initiative. This is a full-time internship position based in Nairobi, with hybrid and remote working options available. The role sits within a global development context where data accuracy directly influences programme delivery and strategic decision-making across multiple regions.
You will work under the supervision of a coordinator and the guidance of the global MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) team. This placement offers direct exposure to results-based management systems, data quality assurance processes, and stakeholder collaboration across time zones and cultures. The contract runs for six months.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise directly with Country Offices to gather accurate indicator data and understand root causes of data discrepancies within the PRIME system.
- Execute indicator corrections in the PRIME platform by following established protocols and step-by-step procedures set by the data team.
- Log all data fixes in a centralised tracking system to enable real-time visibility of progress across assigned countries.
- Escalate any ambiguities, technical obstacles, or matters falling outside the defined scope to the coordinator for appropriate action.
- Strengthen overall data quality by ensuring accurate and complete entry of project logframe indicators, enabling reliable flow of results data into organisational dashboards used by leadership.
- Support Country Offices in resolving high-volume data backlogs that cannot be cleared within standard timeframes, acting as surge capacity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Data Management, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work with precision when handling data systems, with strong organisational skills and consistency in producing accurate outputs.
- Capable of working independently within clear guidelines, applying sound judgment, and flagging issues appropriately without requiring constant oversight.
- Proven ability to master new systems and processes rapidly by following structured guidance with minimal additional support.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with collaborative platforms such as SharePoint is valuable.
- Analytical mindset with capacity to identify data inconsistencies, troubleshoot problems, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Prior experience in data analysis through internships, university projects, or structured work environments demonstrating competency with complex tasks.
- Fluent in English; French and/or Spanish proficiency is advantageous for cross-regional collaboration.
- Must be based in a country where Save the Children has an active operational presence and able to work across multiple time zones.
