Job Overview
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Assisting in gathering data related to investment opportunities in sustainable agriculture and agro-processing practices that promote biodiversity conservation, resource efficiency, and climate change mitigation and adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Supporting the assessment of risks and opportunities associated with agribusiness investments using the data collected as mentioned in the previous point.
- Drafting and editing investment proposals for financial institutions and corporate entities.
- Assisting with data cleaning and monitoring, ensuring the accuracy and currency of information received from partner institutions, and maintaining an updated database.
- Collecting data for certified agribusinesses operating in key countries within our operational scope.
What We Expect
To excel in this role, we require the following qualifications and qualities:
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s studies or possess a degree in environmental studies, agricultural science, agronomy, or a related field.
- Knowledge of agribusiness practices in Sub-Saharan Africa and familiarity with certification processes such as Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, or certifications for major export crops like tea, coffee, cocoa, and cashews.
- Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of French is a plus), including the ability to compose clear and concise reports.
- Academic understanding of sustainable agricultural practices across a range of crops in Sub-Saharan Africa, including modern production techniques and precision agriculture technologies.
- A proactive attitude with a proven track record of goal-oriented work and the ability to accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.
- Capability to collaborate effectively within cross-disciplinary teams and offer support across different regions. Proficiency in articulating ideas, addressing issues, and suggesting solutions.
