ICT Officer at National Cancer Institute of Kenya – Kenya Job Details

Job Purpose
To oversee and coordination adoption, implementation, use and management of ICT systems, technologies and development of ICT Solutions to ensure the Institute leverages on technology for efficient and effective delivery of its mandate.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks
- Implementing system infrastructure and network management strategies, guidelines and procedure;
- Maintaining network infrastructure to ensure operational excellence within the Network Engineering section;
- Maintaining an up-to-date inventory for ICT infrastructure;
- Supporting contingency plan, business continuity management and IT disaster recovery in conjunction with relevant functions and third parties from a network perspective;
- Supporting design, set-up, management and configuration of complex switching environments and complex wireless networks;
- Supporting configuration and setting up of Cisco Firewalls, VPN
- Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital mission critical applications;
- Supporting VOIP, configuration of routers in the network, maintenance of network security services, and maintenance of LAN and its associated components;
- Supporting design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS;
- Supporting provision of technical assistance to internal staff, vendors, and partner Agencies;
- Collecting and reviewing network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes;.
- Supporting maintenance of wired and wireless network inclusive of performance, security, throughput and upgrades;
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks;
- Supporting maintenance of ICT hardware including servers, storage, switches, routers, and UPS’s;
- Developing, testing, evaluating, and installing network enhancements; and
- Supporting maintenance of NCI internal networks and links to external sites.
- Perform all other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
- At least three (3) years’ relevant work experience at the grade of ICT Officer II or in a comparable position;
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:-Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- At least two (2) professional certifications in any of the following areas:
- Information Security: – CISA, CISM, CRISC, CEH, CHFI, CISSP, Operating systems (Linux and Windows)
- Application Development: -CBAP, Programming languages, portal development, system testing and quality assurance
- Infrastructure: – CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, Network+, Operating systems, Office productivity tools
- Systems and Data Management: – Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle certified expert (OCE) or higher, MCSA SQL server administration, MCSA SQL Database administration and Development, Microsoft Azure Certified Database Administrator, Azure or AWS database technologies, Operating systems certifications in Linux and Windows, CBAP, CISM, CISA
- Technical Support: – operating systems (Linux and Windows), cloud environments, networks CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, CCVP, Network+
- . ITIL foundation;
- Membership to a relevant professional body e.g. ISACA and CSK where applicable; and
- Certification in IT security and risk management standards and frameworks such as (ISO/IEC 27001:2013, NIST SP 800-30, ISO/IEC 27005 or COBIT) and their application.
