About the Role

The National Council for Population and Development is recruiting an ICT Officer – Grade Ncpd 6 One (1) Post at National Council for Population and Development to join its ICT department. This is a full-time entry-level position based in Kenya, designed for candidates entering this career cadre. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a senior officer while building practical expertise in systems administration, network management, and helpdesk support.

The ICT Officer will support the organisation’s technology infrastructure, ensuring systems remain operational and staff receive timely technical assistance. This position offers exposure to enterprise-level applications, server management, and data protection protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair ICT equipment and associated peripherals to restore functionality and minimise downtime.
  • Receive, inventory, and install new ICT equipment according to organisational specifications.
  • Configure and test computer hardware, software, and network appliances before deployment.
  • Execute routine system, application, and network startup and shutdown procedures while maintaining control records.
  • Install server software and manage upgrades to existing server infrastructure.
  • Perform offsite backups of critical NCPD data and conduct testing drills to verify data recovery procedures.
  • Apply patch management to applications, systems, and network appliances to maintain security and stability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the organisation’s website and associated web infrastructure.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain applications including email systems, ERP platforms, and databases.
  • Manage the helpdesk application, process support tickets, and generate quarterly performance reports.
  • Monitor network performance and respond to connectivity or performance issues.
  • Document compliance standards, risk assessments, and relevant certifications such as ISO requirements.
  • Train users on system functionality and provide ongoing technical support.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in information communication and security practices.
  • Practical knowledge of system development methodologies.
  • Working understanding of programming concepts and languages.
  • Solid foundation in networking principles and infrastructure management.
