About the Role

Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is recruiting an ICT Intern to join its Information Technology team in Kenya. This internship offers practical experience in core ICT functions within a development-focused NGO environment. The ICT Intern at Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) will work under the supervision of the Senior ICT Officer and contribute to maintaining reliable, secure, and efficient technology services across the organization.

This internship is suited for candidates currently studying or recently qualified in computer science or related fields who want to apply technical knowledge in a real-world setting. You will gain exposure to user support operations, systems administration, network management, data handling, and security protocols. The role combines hands-on technical work with exposure to organizational ICT strategy and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle first-line helpdesk requests from staff regarding software and hardware problems.
  • Assist in deploying, configuring, and supporting hardware and software across the organization.
  • Participate in network troubleshooting and routine maintenance activities.
  • Track and coordinate repairs and scheduled maintenance for ICT equipment.
  • Provide on-site technical support during organizational meetings, events, and field operations.
  • Support security monitoring operations, including threat detection, policy enforcement, audit assistance, and compliance verification.
  • Document technical issues and escalate unresolved problems to the Senior ICT Officer.
  • Complete additional technical tasks assigned by the ICT supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree programme in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent discipline.
  • Working knowledge of Unix and Windows-based systems and fundamental networking principles.
  • Practical experience or demonstrated familiarity with network administration, PC maintenance, MS Windows Server, MS Active Directory, and desktop operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Cisco routing, switching, and voice technology concepts.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff members.
  • Capacity to learn new systems and technologies quickly in response to organizational needs.
