About the Role
Bayes is looking for an HR Assistant to join the Human Resources team on a full-time basis in Kenya. This position offers hands-on involvement across the full spectrum of HR operations, from recruitment and employee onboarding through to records management, payroll support, and employee relations. The HR Assistant at Bayes will be instrumental in ensuring HR services run smoothly while supporting the broader business objectives of the organization.
The role sits within the HR department and requires someone who can manage multiple administrative and operational tasks while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. As an HR Assistant at Bayes, you will work closely with the HR manager and across departments to uphold company HR policies, facilitate compliance, and contribute to a positive workplace culture. This is a structured entry-level to mid-level position suitable for candidates with foundational HR experience in the financial services or fintech sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, creation, and rollout of HR policies and procedures, including updates to the employee handbook and policy documentation.
- Assist in designing and executing recruitment processes to fill open vacancies, including job posting coordination and candidate screening support.
- Manage employee onboarding activities and ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the organization within agreed timelines.
- Prepare accurate minutes during HR meetings, departmental discussions, and other HR-related gatherings, ensuring all decisions and action items are recorded.
- Provide administrative and documentation support for disciplinary processes, including case file management and coordination of required follow-up actions.
- Coordinate training and development programs, including logistics for workshops, seminars, and staff development initiatives.
- Address employee workplace concerns by documenting issues, liaising with relevant parties, and ensuring fair and timely resolution of grievances.
- Compile and analyze HR data including attendance records, leave reports, and other workforce metrics to support decision-making.
- Support the design and implementation of employee benefits packages such as pension schemes, health insurance, and welfare programs.
- Organize company events including team-building activities, training sessions, and other organizational gatherings.
- Maintain confidential HR filing systems and communicate regularly with the HR manager on all matters relating to human resources.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of hands-on HR experience, preferably within fintech, financial services, or a similar regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of core HR functions including recruitment, payroll coordination, employee records, and policy implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey HR information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict privacy standards.
- Proven organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines without compromising quality.
- Ability to work both independently and effectively within a team, with strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to build positive working relationships across the organization.
