Key Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify customer home loan requirements using the bank’s standard sales process, then present appropriate loan products and terms.

- Explain home loan procedures, documentation requirements, and lending criteria to customers in clear, accessible language.
- Complete all loan applications, internal submission forms, and supporting documentation with accuracy and without errors; collate and package relevant documents for processing.
- Manage customer inquiries and complaints by taking ownership, escalating where appropriate, and resolving issues within service level agreements.
- Conduct branch-level home loan marketing campaigns and participate in countrywide promotional initiatives to build brand visibility.
- Maintain records of home loan sales performance, pipeline activity, and customer interactions for management reporting and coaching purposes.
- Refer customers to specialist teams or other departments when mortgage products do not meet their needs or when additional advisory is required.
Operational & Compliance Duties
- Ensure all new home loan accounts comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements and follow retail end-to-end lending procedures.
- Verify that applicants meet Absa Bank Limited’s lending criteria regarding creditworthiness, income, and collateral valuation before submission.
- Maintain strict adherence to operational risk standards, money laundering prevention, banking code of conduct, and health and safety regulations.
- Support internal audit processes by maintaining meticulous documentation and demonstrating operational rigour in all mortgage transactions.
Teamwork & Development
- Build effective working relationships with branch staff and support functions (service delivery, risk, operations) to develop referral networks and share mortgage sales leads.
- Share knowledge, best practices, and successful sales techniques with other home loan advisors to strengthen team capability.
- Provide honest feedback to colleagues on referred leads and customer outcomes to drive continuous improvement across the branch.
- Pursue agreed performance development objectives with your team leader and identify opportunities to enhance your effectiveness.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
- Completion of home loan product training certification or equivalent in-house qualification.
- In-depth knowledge of home loan products, lending policies, and the full mortgage application process from initial inquiry to drawdown.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation including KYC compliance, money laundering regulations, banking code of conduct, and health and safety standards.
- Understanding of legal processes involved in property purchase, transfer, and mortgage registration in Kenya.
- Knowledge of competitor home loan products, pricing, and service offerings to position Absa offerings competitively.
- Strong familiarity with bank systems, internal procedures, risk and operational rigour requirements, and the tariff structure across Absa’s product range.
- High level of drive and determination to achieve sales targets in a competitive banking environment.
Desirable Training & Experience
- Previous experience in mortgage sales or retail banking advisory roles.
- Training in sales and marketing techniques, KYC and operational compliance, negotiation, and time management.
- PC literacy and proficiency with banking systems and customer relationship management software.
