About the Role
Sheer Logic is seeking an Ftth Project Assistant-40k to oversee fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure projects across Kenya. This full-time position reports to senior project management and requires a hands-on professional who can coordinate planning, execution, and delivery phases while maintaining alignment with project baselines and company objectives. The role operates within a structured project management framework based on PMBOK principles, covering initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure phases.
As an Ftth Project Assistant-40k at Sheer Logic, you will work across multiple internal departments—planning, procurement, legal, commercial, and finance—while managing relationships with external stakeholders including contractors, suppliers, local communities, and property owners. This position is critical to ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with planning and retail teams to develop comprehensive FTTH project schedules, identify technical and logistical risks, establish contingency plans, and allocate resources according to project designs.
- Create detailed project implementation plans for new fiber projects and existing FTTH deployments, applying the established PIP (Project Implementation Procedure) methodology consistently across all assignments.
- Build and maintain a detailed stakeholder communication strategy that identifies key influencers, maps their levels of impact on project outcomes, and confirms high-level project charters and schedules during initiation sessions.
- Facilitate and moderate project meetings at all stages, monitoring ongoing tasks, escalating risks and challenges, and ensuring the delivery team addresses issues collaboratively with documented mitigation measures.
- Partner proactively with the procurement department to track equipment and material lead times, manage weekly fiber optics accessories availability, and handle procurement requests to prevent project delays.
- Assess project plan vulnerabilities through regular risk reviews, develop corrective and mitigation solutions, and deploy remedial actions to close gaps against approved baselines.
- Lead delivery teams in analyzing and integrating project requirements, reconciling conflicting objectives, and establishing realistic, agreed-upon project goals with measurable outcomes.
- Manage scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, procurement, risk, and communications across projects, implementing control mechanisms and conducting impact assessments for all scope changes and revenue schedule adjustments.
- Monitor subcontractor, vendor, and internal team performance against contract deliverables, ensuring accountability and contractual compliance.
- Prepare weekly progress reports for internal stakeholders (Account Managers, management) and daily updates to external clients, plus monthly management reports showing project completion status against billing schedules.
- Oversee transition processes to ensure structured handover from project teams to operations management, documenting all deliverables and sign-offs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, project management, or planning discipline.
- Higher diploma with a minimum of three years’ professional experience in related fields.
- Two to three years of hands-on experience in project management, preferably within infrastructure or telecommunications delivery.
- Practical knowledge of project management methodology, specifically the PMBOK framework and PIP implementation procedure.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and stay motivated through complex multi-phase projects.
- Strong team collaboration skills with conscientiousness, reliability, and sound decision-making capability.
