Checker Clerk at Flexi-Personnel – Flexi-Personnel Kenya Job Details
About the Role
Flexi-Personnel is recruiting a Checker Clerk to oversee vehicle inspections and cargo operations at their Kenya facility. This is a full-time position responsible for verifying that all trucks meet client specifications, comply with safety standards, and are loaded accurately before dispatch. The role sits at the intersection of logistics operations, quality control, and safety compliance—ensuring goods reach their destination intact and on schedule.
As Checker Clerk at Flexi-Personnel, you will work directly with drivers (both company fleet and subcontracted), supervise loading and offloading processes, and maintain detailed records of all movements. You’ll be the checkpoint between warehouse and dispatch, with authority to halt operations if standards are not met.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and approve all trucks against client protocols before loading; identify and escalate safety and compliance issues to the Transport Lead or duty supervisor.
- Verify that goods are properly palletized, stacked, and secured according to standards before trucks are sealed for dispatch.
- Count, reconcile, and cross-check all packages being loaded to ensure shipment matches order quantity and documentation.
- Monitor driver adherence to site rules, safety regulations, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements; report non-compliance immediately.
- Supervise the loading and offloading process, ensuring drivers actively support operations and trucks access loading bays efficiently when called.
- Confirm all drivers receive required documentation (ERN, GRN, Hauler Copy) and collect proof of delivery (PODs) within set timeframes; flag delays or discrepancies.
- Reject damaged, broken, or non-conforming goods before they enter trucks; maintain quality standards for all cargo.
- Record and maintain daily workload data, communicating delays or client-side issues clearly and promptly to management.
- Assess health and safety risks for both company and subcontracted drivers and take action to reduce or eliminate those risks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school or secondary education as a minimum qualification.
- Proven experience in data clerical or administrative work.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills; ability to reconcile inventory accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; computer literacy essential for documentation and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly under time pressure.
- Knowledge of customs requirements and freight logistics preferred.
- A valid driving licence is desirable but not mandatory.
- Diploma or certificate in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or Supply Chain Management is advantageous; university qualification also welcomed.
What to Expect
- Work in shift patterns with flexibility to cover early starts, late finishes, and operational demands.
- A physically demanding environment requiring standing, walking, and supervising active loading operations.
- Responsibility for making decisions quickly in a high-volume warehouse setting where accuracy and speed both matter.
