You will work directly with small and medium-sized enterprises, conducting financial due diligence, structuring loan proposals, and coordinating disbursement processes. Key Responsibilities
- Pursue new lending and deposit opportunities from micro, small, and medium enterprise clients to expand branch business volumes and revenue.
- Establish advisory relationships with MSME customers to understand their financial needs and deliver customized products and services.
- Evaluate loan applications by reviewing financial statements, conducting site visits, obtaining reference checks, and performing thorough credit analysis.
- Prepare detailed credit recommendations with supporting documentation to guide approval decisions and ensure complete application files.
- Track loan disbursement conditions, communicate lending decisions promptly to customers, and coordinate with operations teams to enable fund release.
- Engage customers regularly through structured meetings and interactions, cross-sell additional bank products, and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Monitor portfolio quality and profitability, identify underperforming accounts, and escalate concerns to branch management.
- Respond to customer queries and complaints within service level agreements, maintain confidentiality, and work with branch and head office teams to resolve issues.
- Report market insights, monitor competitor activity, participate in marketing initiatives, and support business development strategy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum two years of sales experience in a financial services organization, including exposure to lending or retail banking products.
- Working knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and standard banking operations in Kenya.
- Demonstrated understanding of risk management frameworks, credit assessment principles, and compliance obligations including KYC and AML standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge assumptions using quantitative data and documented evidence.
- Ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders across departments, and collaborate effectively within a matrix environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and banking systems (training provided where necessary).
