About the Role

Liberty Life Assurance Kenya is recruiting an Analyst, Care Management to join its healthcare operations team in Nairobi. This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the delivery of affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare services to Heritage customers. The role sits at the intersection of clinical management and customer service, requiring someone who can navigate hospital relationships, process medical claims accurately, and ensure patients receive timely care throughout their treatment journey.

The Analyst, Care Management role is critical to maintaining the standard of service that defines the company’s commitment to making financial freedom possible for its customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular contact with hospital partners to monitor the wellbeing of all members and handle medical claims with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review and authorise scheduled and non-scheduled hospital admissions according to established guidelines before treatment commences.
  • Coordinate with hospitals and attending physicians to develop and implement timely discharge plans for admitted members.
  • Assess and verify inpatient and outpatient medical claim documentation to ensure compliance with agreed fee schedules and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor interim hospital bills on a daily basis and intervene appropriately to maintain quality of care standards and cost control.
  • Conduct hospital visits to review inpatient accounts and oversee the discharge process, including arrangement of post-hospitalisation care where necessary.
  • Screen all inpatient, outpatient, and reimbursement claims; document decisions clearly in case files, noting any declined claims or negotiated discounts from providers.
  • Generate daily status reports on the clinical condition of admitted members and provide timely notification to the stakeholder team regarding all declined cases in line with policy requirements.
  • Respond to member and provider enquiries within 24 hours and resolve client complaints in a timely manner.
  • Authorise maternity bookings and issue wellness letters within 24 hours; manage wellness programmes and health talks in partnership with providers.
  • Monitor members with chronic conditions by ensuring managed healthcare forms are completed by treating physicians for ongoing follow-up and management.
  • Uphold Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles in all interactions and comply with governance requirements including KYC, AML, and data protection regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Medicine, Nursing, Clinical Officer qualification, or Pharmacy.
  • A minimum of one year of technical experience in medical insurance operations or a hospital setting.
  • Understanding of health insurance operations, medical claims processes, and related procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups including hospitals, doctors, members, and internal teams.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to resolve queries and complaints professionally.
  • Proficiency in managing authorization approvals, pre-screening documentation, and maintaining accurate claim records.
  • Knowledge of clinical protocols, tariff agreements, and healthcare compliance standards.
