Accountant at Nathan Digital – Kenya Job Details

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy, and supporting financial decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
  • Record daily financial transactions and ensure accuracy in reporting.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Generate reports on financial performance and variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Process invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Tax and Regulatory:

  • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Stay updated on tax laws and financial regulations to ensure compliance.

Financial Analysis:

  • Analyze financial data and trends to support business decisions.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial issues and provide support.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
