Exciting Research Internship Opportunity

Join the forefront of U.S. foreign policy!

Position: Internship

Location: Remote (Preferably within EST +/- 3 hours time zones)

Compensation: $17.50 per hour

Duration: 10-12 weeks, full-time or part-time

Timing:

  • Spring: Approximately January – April
  • Summer: Approximately May – August
  • Fall: Approximately September – December

Internship Overview

The fp21 internship program offers an exciting opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the world of a foreign policy think tank. At fp21, our mission is to shape the future of U.S. foreign policy, and there’s no better way to achieve this than by nurturing the next generation of leaders. Our interns will work alongside our executive, research, communications, or development teams based on their interests. Our goal is to equip emerging professionals with valuable skills to propel their careers forward. This program is tailored to each intern’s interests, with the aim of helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.

Internship Role

As a research intern, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience in research design, methodology, and strategy. This opportunity is ideal for those passionate about studying best practices in data collection, analytics, decision-making, monitoring and evaluation, and organizational design with a real-world impact focus. You will report to the Research Director and your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in research, analysis, and the creation of reports, articles, blog posts, and other projects as required by program needs.
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of the research director.
  • Attending research team meetings and other staff meetings.
  • An opportunity to lead a project throughout the summer.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Some university-level education (e.g., one or more years of undergraduate or graduate-level coursework).
  • A proven interest in foreign policy (e.g., relevant coursework, extracurricular involvement, or previous employment).
  • Enthusiasm for fp21’s mission.
  • Attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a strong desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with Notion, Slack, and Google Suite is a plus.
