Hotel Nurse

Role Purpose:

  • Responsible for leading the hotel’s healthcare services, ensuring that guests and employees receive timely, professional medical care and first aid. The role oversees clinical operations, maintains medical supplies and records, and ensures compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Provide preliminary medical services to staff, including general health assessments, and administer first aid to guests only.
  • Oversee the procurement, control, and administration of drugs; prepare the clinic budget and monitor expenditure on a monthly basis.
  • Report all sick-offs and verify and enforce sick-off procedures.
  • Follow up on the progress of employees and guests during illness and convalescence.
  • Liaise with doctors attending to employees to determine the best possible solutions for both the employee and the employer.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of essential medical supplies and ensure that first-aid boxes are fully stocked.
  • Ensure that all accident cases are promptly reported to the Group Human Resources Manager for record-keeping and personal accident claim purposes.
  • Serve as a member of the Health and Safety Committee, assisting with audits to ensure compliance with health and safety policies, and coordinate training for first aiders and fire marshals.
  • Organize and coordinate mandatory biannual medical examinations for food handlers, and ensure treatment and follow-up testing for those diagnosed with medical conditions.
  • Prepare and promptly submit monthly medical reports to the Group Human Resources Manager, and conduct weekly inspections of general hygiene throughout the facility.
  • Monitor current and emerging medical trends, practices, and systems, and make appropriate recommendations. Conduct quarterly awareness sessions on communicable and preventable diseases.
  • Maintain and update staff medical records and the sick-off register.
  • Liaise with medical insurance providers and healthcare facilities to arrange regular staff wellness checks and awareness sessions.
  • Chair and review HACCP Committee reports, schedule meetings, and conduct routine checks.
  • Assist the Group Human Resources Manager with OSHA/WIBA reporting, coordinate medical attention, and follow up on DOSH forms with the attending physician.
  • Provide staff counselling services or arrange wellness sessions with a certified counsellor.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Diploma in Nursing from KMTC or another recognized nursing training institution
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct patient care experience
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and WIBA requirements
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and rotating or on-call shifts, as needed  from
