About the Role

UN Women is recruiting for an HR Business Partner (Global) position based in Nairobi. This full-time role sits within the Human Resources Division and reports directly to the Deputy Director & Chief HR Client Services. The HR Business Partner (Global) serves as a strategic advisor to management on human resources matters across an assigned portfolio, working to align workforce planning with organizational objectives. You’ll collaborate with HR Management and Team Leads to oversee recruitment, compliance, benefits, compensation, and employee relations activities.

The organization accelerates the UN’s mandate on gender equality and women’s empowerment globally. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the global implementation of HR policies, guidelines, procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs); monitor their proper adoption and provide technical advice on implementation within your assigned portfolio.
  • Provide technical input on HR strategic planning, including discussions on service direction, goal-setting and annual work planning with senior management.
  • Offer guidance to managers and staff on recruitment, benefits, entitlements, and separation matters; ensure timely and accurate information reaches current and prospective employees on policies and conditions of service.
  • Oversee recruitment and selection processes for staff and affiliate personnel, including management of vacant posts, screening of applications, candidate assessment, and coordination of recruitment for international staff (up to P5 level) and locally-recruited staff.
  • Coordinate the administration of benefits and entitlements in partnership with UNDP; oversee implementation of allowances and approve salary and benefits payments as required.
  • Liaise with HR Team Leads on workplace relations, talent and performance management; promote UN Women policies on work-life balance, facilitate dispute mediation, and brief staff on performance systems.
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives within your portfolio, including training on code of conduct, benefits and performance management; assess training needs in collaboration with the talent management team.
  • Analyze and report on recruitment trends for management and donors; develop HR systems and provide data analysis to support decision-making.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc or MA) or equivalent professional qualification; further HR-related certification is advantageous.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in human resources, including recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations and HR policy implementation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UN systems, policies and procedures, or equivalent multinational organization experience.
  • Strong understanding of gender equality and commitment to diversity, inclusion and respect for all staff.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple recruitment and selection processes simultaneously and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to draft HR guidance and communicate complex policies to diverse audiences across organizational levels.
  • Experience in HR reporting, data analysis and use of HR management systems to track trends and provide actionable insights.
