Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food in line with established recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and pre-service checklists
- Regulate temperature settings on ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters to achieve consistent cooking results
- Manage thawing of frozen food items in refrigeration and maintain proper portion sizes, plating arrangement, and food garnish standards
- Monitor and log food preparation quantities and quality; identify excess items and alert the head chef for use in daily specials
- Communicate kitchen needs to management during peak service periods and relay menu specials and out-of-stock items to front-of-house staff
- Support management in team tasks including hiring, training, scheduling, staff evaluation, and employee motivation; model professional conduct
- Prepare cold food items and maintain food safety standards across all kitchen stations
- Follow company safety protocols, report maintenance issues and workplace hazards, and complete mandatory safety certifications
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Food Production, Culinary Arts, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of practical kitchen experience in a food service environment
- Prior experience in a hotel or luxury hospitality setting (four- or five-star properties preferred)
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds; capable of standing, walking, and performing repeated bending and twisting motions for extended periods
- Knowledge of food safety practices, portion control, and plating presentation standards
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a kitchen brigade structure
- Professional appearance and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information
