About the Role

Tugende is recruiting a Branch Leader-Readvertisement to lead operations at its Busia branch. This is a full-time, on-site position within the financial services sector in Kenya, specifically in asset finance and credit services for informal sector entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will oversee all branch activities, drive revenue growth, manage credit portfolios, and serve as the primary company representative in the local business community.

Tugende operates as a for-profit social enterprise across Uganda and Kenya, providing asset financing, digital credit solutions, and business support to small and medium enterprises. With over 30,000 clients served and 460+ staff members, the organisation is expanding rapidly. This role offers the opportunity to lead a branch team in delivering financial services that directly impact MSME growth in Busia.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct oversight of all branch operational activities, including sales operations, customer relations, and administrative functions.
• Drive profitability and portfolio expansion through strategic planning while ensuring efficient resource allocation, inventory management, and regular financial audits.
• Lead revenue generation initiatives by promoting Tugende products, allocating tasks and resources for lead generation and conversion, and supervising the sales process for efficiency.
• Manage the complete credit lifecycle from client origination and assessment through disbursement and loan recovery, while implementing strategies to maintain portfolio quality and minimise non-performing loans.
• Conduct market surveys to identify emerging risks and growth opportunities within the target market and report findings to senior management.
• Resolve escalated customer complaints and build strong rapport with the business community through routine field visits and engagement initiatives.
• Oversee branch budgeting and financial forecasting, actively manage the branch P&L statement, and monitor resource utilisation against approved budgets.
• Set clear performance expectations for team members, provide coaching to drive productivity, and manage staff development plans in line with company practices.
• Enforce strict compliance with Tugende policies, standard operating procedures, regulatory standards including KYC/AML, and data protection requirements.
• Prepare daily and monthly performance reports for management that highlight trends and asset status, and ensure proper documentation and archiving of client agreements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Microfinance, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial services sector, including 2–3 years in a supervisory or branch leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in credit management, asset financing, portfolio growth, and sales within a financial institution.
• Proven ability to manage P&L statements and oversee budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, particularly KYC/AML procedures and data protection in banking.
• Ability to work both in office and field-based environments with frequent client interactions.
• High integrity and strong commitment to compliance and best practices in financial services.
