About the Role

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is recruiting Music Practical KSCE Assessors to evaluate oral and practical examination papers for the 2026 KCSE examination cycle. This is a full-time position based in Nairobi that runs from June 22 to July 15, 2026. Selected assessors will receive on-the-job training during the actual assessment process. If you are already listed in the KNEC assessor database, you are not eligible to apply for this recruitment round.

The Music Practical KSCE Assessor role requires a practicing secondary school teacher or college tutor with formal qualifications and current employment status. KNEC, established in 1980 under the Kenya National Examinations Council Act, manages national examinations across Kenya’s education sector and relies on qualified educators to maintain assessment standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate KCSE Music practical examination papers according to KNEC marking schemes and assessment criteria.
  • Conduct oral examinations for Music KCSE candidates under KNEC supervision and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of candidate assessments and examination results.
  • Adhere to examination security protocols and confidentiality requirements throughout the assessment period.
  • Attend and complete mandatory training sessions prior to and during the examination assessment cycle.
  • Provide fair and consistent evaluation based on established rubrics and national standards.
  • Collaborate with other assessors and KNEC officials to ensure standardized assessment across examination centers.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Currently employed and actively teaching or tutoring Music at secondary school or college level.
  • Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognized professional body in Kenya.
  • Hold a Diploma or higher qualification in Education or in Music as a specialized subject area.
  • Possess a minimum of three years of verified teaching or tutoring experience in the relevant subject.
  • Obtain a written recommendation from your school or college head of institution or employer.
  • Not currently under interdiction or any disciplinary action from your employer.
  • Be 50 years of age or below at the time of application.

  • Access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link ;
  • Those with cp2 accounts, should log into the portal using their usernames and
  • passwords;
  • Those who have forgotten their CP2 passwords, should click on reset password button
  • and enter their mobile number in the format (2547 ) and submit to get new
  • passwords for logging to the system;
  • Those without CP2 accounts, should click on create account and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access system;
  • Upon successful log in, the applicants will complete their personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on apply for assessors’ vacancies and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose.
  • The slots are limited and only qualified applicants who have presented all the required
  • documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.
