About the Role
Absa Bank Limited is recruiting SME Lead Generators (Various Locations) across Kenya to drive sales performance and deliver customer value in the small and medium enterprise segment. This is a full-time position based in Kenya within the retail banking division. As an SME Lead Generator at Absa Bank Limited, you will be the primary point of contact for small business customers, responsible for identifying their financial needs and converting them into successful loan and product sales. You’ll work across various locations in Kenya, managing your own sales pipeline while contributing to branch and cluster targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify small and medium enterprise customer needs, then sell relevant Absa products and cross-sell additional banking services to meet customer requirements (60% of time allocation)
- Generate quality leads through proactive outreach and convert them into closed sales using effective follow-up techniques and relationship management
- Execute SME product campaigns by explaining product features, terms, and eligibility criteria clearly to prospective customers
- Establish and monitor personal sales targets for specific campaigns, tracking your own performance metrics and reporting results to management
- Complete new account applications and supporting documentation with customers, ensuring accuracy before submission to the line manager for review and onwards processing
- Conduct financial analysis and statement reviews on business banking customer accounts; communicate approval or denial decisions and document reasons for declined applications
- Manage customer queries and complaints regarding SME products, resolving issues promptly and escalating unresolved matters to your line manager (15% of time allocation)
- Ensure all account opening procedures are compliant with KYC requirements, regulatory standards, and Absa policies; escalate any items exceeding service level timelines (15% of time allocation)
- Share product knowledge and sales techniques with team members and provide coverage during peak periods or team absences (10% of time allocation)
Requirements & Qualifications
- Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (required)
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets in a banking or retail environment
- Strong understanding of SME banking products, credit principles, and customer financial analysis
- Proficiency in account opening procedures, KYC compliance, and anti-money laundering regulations
- Ability to manage multiple customer interactions simultaneously while maintaining accurate documentation
- Solid communication skills—both written and verbal—for explaining financial products to customers with varying levels of financial literacy
- Commitment to operational rigour, accuracy, and adherence to Absa policies and regulatory frameworks
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development programs
