About the Role

Muthokinju Paint and Cement is recruiting a Procurement Officer to join its supply chain team in Nairobi. This is a full-time position responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement function, from vendor selection through to inventory control. The role sits at the centre of operations, ensuring timely sourcing of materials and services that keep production and distribution running smoothly across the paint and cement manufacturing sector.

As a Procurement Officer at Muthokinju Paint and Cement, you will oversee purchasing decisions, maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and build strong working relationships with suppliers. This is a hands-on role combining strategic planning with day-to-day execution, suited to someone with solid procurement experience and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure raw materials, finished goods, and services required for manufacturing and operations, comparing quotes and negotiating terms with vendors.
• Prepare and maintain procurement documentation including purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices, and contracts in compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand based on production schedules, and coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to prevent stockouts or excess stock.
• Evaluate vendor performance against agreed service levels, cost targets, and quality standards; address underperformance and identify opportunities to consolidate or change suppliers.
• Conduct regular analysis of spend patterns, supplier costs, and procurement processes to identify savings and efficiency improvements.
• Liaise with internal departments—production, finance, and logistics—to understand material requirements and resolve supply issues promptly.
• Generate procurement reports and present findings to management regarding supplier performance, cost trends, and recommended actions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or degree-level qualification in procurement, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles within manufacturing or distribution environments.
• Strong command of English in writing and speech; ability to prepare clear documentation and communicate with vendors and internal teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with procurement software or ERP systems; experience with inventory management tools is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors, negotiate pricing, and track compliance with delivery and quality requirements.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise competing procurement demands in a busy manufacturing setting.
