About the Role

Vihiga County Government is recruiting for the Youth Service Board – Tiriki East Sub-County position in Vihiga. This is a full-time administration role based in Vihiga, established under the Vihiga County Youth Service Act, 2022. The position serves as a representative body for youth leadership and development within the Tiriki East sub-county, supporting the County Government’s mandate to advance youth engagement and public service participation.

Vihiga County is located in Kenya’s Western Region, with its headquarters in Mbale. The county comprises five constituencies—Luanda, Emuhaya, Hamisi, Sabatia, and Vihiga—and serves a population of approximately 612,000 residents. Administration jobs in Vihiga provide opportunities to contribute directly to county-level governance and community development.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the Youth Service Board representing Tiriki East Sub-County, as mandated by the Vihiga County Youth Service Act, 2022
• Participate in board deliberations and decision-making processes concerning youth programmes and initiatives
• Engage with the community to understand and articulate the needs and interests of young people in the sub-county
• Support the implementation of youth development policies and regulatory frameworks established by Vihiga County Government
• Attend board meetings and contribute to planning and oversight activities
• Liaise between county administration and youth constituents on service delivery matters

Requirements & Qualifications

• Meet the constitutional requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
• Attain a minimum grade of C- (Minus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification
• Demonstrate at least two (2) years of proven experience in youth leadership
• Be classified as a youth in accordance with Article 260 of the Constitution of Kenya
• Be a resident of Tiriki East Sub-County at the time of application
• Not hold any official position within any political party registered in Kenya
• Provide relevant clearance certificates demonstrating compliance with Chapter Six constitutional requirements
