ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for recruitment, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ in KCSE or its equivalent.
- Attain a C+ in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent.
- Be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Manual applications will not be considered.
- The Commission’s Recruitment Guidelines for Teacher Interns 2023/2024 Financial Year (Post Primary Institutions) will apply.
- Shortlisted candidates must present original academic and professional certificates.
- Selection of candidates will be strictly merit-based and dependent on the number of vacancies per County.
- Previous permanent and pensionable employees of the Teachers Service Commission and those who have served under the TSC internship program are ineligible.
- Applicants may apply in two schools where appropriate vacancies have been declared.
- Successful candidates must not accept more than one Offer of Internship Engagement, as doing so will lead to disqualification.
- Successful applicants are required to have Personal Accident Insurance to cover personal risks during the internship.
NOTE
The Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year initiative designed to equip and enhance the competencies of individuals entering the teaching service. The program targets unemployed registered teachers, providing mentorship, coaching, and practical teaching experience.
During verification/interviews, applicants must produce the following:
- A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from the TSC online portal.
- A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport.
- Two (2) color passport-size photographs.
- A copy of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card.
- A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP
The internship period will be twelve (12) months.
MONTHLY STIPEND FOR TEACHER INTERNS
This is a non-remunerative engagement. However, teacher interns attached to secondary schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Kshs. 20,000/-. The stipend will be paid subject to statutory deductions, where applicable.
INTERNSHIP CERTIFICATE
Upon successful completion of the Internship Programme, teacher interns will receive a certificate.
