JOB SUMMARY:

PROJECT OFFICER – PRIVATE HEALTH SECTOR PROGRAM

The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in providing strategic guidance, mentorship, coaching, and regular updates on HIV/AIDS/RH/FP to healthcare workers in supported private sector sites. They will collaborate closely with the donor, health management teams, and service providers to ensure that the quality of care aligns with the MOH quality standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide strategic direction in care and treatment programs in collaboration with the Head of Programs.
  2. Offer mentorship, coaching, and updates to clinical mentors and service providers, ensuring the delivery of quality care and treatment services in line with national guidelines.
  3. Mentor and coach service providers on best practices, current guidelines, and standards for comprehensive HIV care and treatment services.
  4. Provide technical guidance and leadership for RH/FP activities, including joint support supervision on RH/FP services to GSN health facilities and donor teams.
  5. Collaborate with the Division of Family Health & NASCOP to develop and review policies, tools, and strategies to enhance access to HIV/AIDS/RH/FP interventions in the private sector.
  6. Review and analyze data for performance monitoring of the HIV/AIDS/RH/FP private sector program, taking corrective actions through regular data review meetings.
  7. Prepare quarterly and annual reports in collaboration with the team and meet funding agency expectations.
  8. Contribute to the writing of abstracts for conferences and manuscripts for publication of private sector program work.
  9. Provide technical guidance in QA/QI for HIV/AIDS/RH/FP service delivery, including identification, tracking, and evaluation of sub-optimally performing indicators.
  10. Identify vital links, funding opportunities, and initiatives from other partners to enhance organizational private-sector programs.
  11. Represent the project in local technical committees, TWGs, and stakeholders’ meetings related to HIV/AIDS/RH/FP private sector programming.
  12. Perform any other duties as allocated by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERTISE, AND COMPETENCE:

  • Diploma in a relevant field with 5 years of relevant experience in successful field implementation of HIV/AIDS/RH/FP programs in Kenya (A bachelor’s degree is an added advantage).
  • Registered Clinical Officer/Nurse with a valid practice license.
  • Experience in establishing and sustaining working relationships with the Government of Kenya Ministries of Health at Sub-County and facility levels.
  • Significant experience in working with private sector health agencies, especially franchises.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current ART, PMTCT, TB/HIV, Adolescent Health, and FP guidelines, standards, tools, and best practices.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in successful field implementation of RH/FP/Adolescent Health programs in Kenya (Experience in Long-acting contraceptives reversible and permanent is an added advantage).
  • Experience in HIV/AIDS care and treatment program implementation with demonstrated expertise in initiating care and treatment services in private health facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating training and mentorship in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment areas, and QI initiatives.
  • Strong writing skills, including report writing.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure to perform.
  • Ability to manage several major multidimensional activities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to supported sites.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills – MS Office; Internet; Basic data analysis skills.
  • Self-managed, self-driven, results-oriented.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, report writing, and analytical skills.
  • Dedicated team player with the ability and experience to work in a multidisciplinary team.
