Temporary Nurse Aid at HIAS Refugee Trust of Kenya – HIAS Refugee Trust of Kenya Kenya Job Details
POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS seeks to recruit a compassionate, patient-focused Nurse Aid. The nurse aid will be responsible for assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and providing physical and emotional support to patients and families. The incumbent will be required to ensure individual holistic health care is maintained throughout.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responding to medical emergencies and offering first aid services.
- Carrying out medical screening and observations during intake of clients
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and administer any prescribed medication in accordance with the doctor’s guidelines.
- Accompanying residents to routine medical appointments
- Make orders for the medical supplies for the center as prescribed. Ensure that medical supplies are stored safely and properly utilized.
- Handle all the relevant medical documentation and facilitate hospital appointments.
- Keep records of all medical cases, treatment received, medication, duration of stay, and other needs at the center., ensure Case management system is updated. and maintain confidentiality.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly summaries.
- Record all Medical Emergencies and other incident reports at the centre.
- Work closely with the housekeeping and kitchen departments to ensure that the medical needs in terms of cleanliness and diet of residents are met.
- Budget management for all the medical lines
- Contributing to the induction of new residents to provide the highest standards of care.
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of both the rooms and residents.
- Inspect the rooms from time to time and check on the general cleanliness, any peculiar habits, and/or report on anything outside the usual norm.
- Identify, address, and report all residents’ concerns to the Centre Coordinator
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological support to clients, patients, and their families
- Carry out any other duties, as may be required by management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification as a Nursing assistant/Nurse aid
- With at least 2 years of work experience as a nursing aid, former experience with humanitarian organizations will be an added advantage.
- Compassionate and patient-focused attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Ability to manage confidentiality.
- Experience working in a refugee program is an added advantage.
- Knowledge in Accountability to Affected Populations
- Knowledge in PSEA
