About the Role
Tatu City Limited is recruiting a Storekeeper for its operations in Nairobi. This is a full-time position responsible for overseeing warehouse operations, managing inventory control, and ensuring the safekeeping of construction materials on site. The Storekeeper at Tatu City Limited plays a central role in maintaining supply chain efficiency, preventing losses, and supporting project timelines through accurate stock management and material distribution.
The successful candidate will manage the complete cycle of material handling—from receiving and verification through to issuing and record-keeping. Working in procurement roles in Nairobi, the Storekeeper ensures transparency, accountability, and operational continuity across all stored items and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive delivered materials and verify compliance with Purchase Orders and Delivery Notes before acceptance
- Inspect quantities and assess basic quality of incoming items; report discrepancies or damage to the supervisor without delay
- Log all received materials into the inventory system using Excel or logbooks to maintain accurate records
- Arrange and store materials in designated areas according to established protocols and safety standards
- Issue materials only upon receipt of approved Material Requisition forms; verify quantities and prepare requested items for collection
- Obtain recipient signatures on all issued items and update inventory records to reflect outgoing stock
- Conduct daily stock reviews to maintain accurate balances, monitor consumption patterns, and prevent shortages
- Keep storage facilities organised and clean; identify fast-moving and critical items; alert supervisors when restocking is required and assist in preparing purchase requests
- Enforce storage safety measures, control access to warehouses, and implement loss prevention practices to protect against damage, theft, or deterioration
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- 2–3 years of practical experience in stores management, inventory control, or warehousing; construction sector experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of inventory management systems and ERP software is advantageous
- Sound understanding of stock control principles, inventory valuation methods, and warehousing best practices
- Ability to maintain detailed, accurate records and work with spreadsheet applications
- Familiarity with site safety regulations and commitment to loss prevention protocols
