Research Assistants at ICS- SP Africa – SP Africa Kenya Job Details

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection following established research methodologies.
2. Engaging in interviews, focus group discussions, and surveys with project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
3. Accurately and efficiently transcribing qualitative data.
4. Organizing and managing collected data to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
5. Attending training workshops for Research Assistants.
6. Maintaining well-organized documentation of all research activities.
7. Participating in debriefing meetings after data collection.
8. Ensuring the safety and accountability of all project equipment.
9. Fulfilling any additional tasks assigned by the Research Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Hold a university degree in Social Science or a relevant field.
2. Demonstrated experience in carrying out qualitative and quantitative data collection for research projects.
3. Proficiency in conducting In-depth Interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD).
4. Skilled in transcription techniques.
5. Strong written and verbal communication abilities in English and Kiswahili.
6. Proficiency in local languages will be advantageous.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
8. Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
9. Previous familiarity with KOBO Collect and Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
10. Must be a local resident of the survey areas: Kiambu (Limuru), Nairobi (Kamkunji), Machakos (Kangundo), Kisumu (Kisumu West), and Busia (Teso North/Matayos).

Terms of Engagement:

Selected candidates will be engaged on short-term contracts for the end-of-project evaluation.
