About the Role

Platinum Outsourcing and Logistics is seeking a Port Clerk Delmonte to join its team in Kenya on a full-time basis. This role is essential to the smooth operation of refrigerated container clearance at the Mombasa port facility. You will work at a critical point in the supply chain, managing documentation, customs procedures, and temperature-sensitive cargo coordination with precision and accountability.

The Port Clerk Delmonte at Platinum Outsourcing and Logistics will be responsible for overseeing the complete clearance process for reefer containers, liaising with port authorities, customs officials, and vessel operators. This is an administration role that demands attention to detail, organisational discipline, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under port-specific time pressures.

Key Responsibilities

• Submit and process export documentation through customs procedures to obtain necessary clearances.
• Enter and manage container data in the KPA system (KWATOS), ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely updates.
• Coordinate the payment and settlement of KPA port charges with relevant port authorities.
• Verify that all export documents are complete and properly handover them to the competent regulatory authorities.
• Confirm container arrival at the port terminal and record temperature readings for all reefer containers upon entry and after connection at designated plugging points.
• Release shipments in the KWATOS system once all relevant regulatory bodies have issued their clearances.
• Track and follow up on plugging charges after the vessel has departed to ensure timely settlement.
• Monitor the status of Certificates of Entry (COEs) after cargo loading is completed and cross-reference with vessel departure records.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Certificate in Clearing and Forwarding or a related professional qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in clearing and forwarding operations.
• Proficiency with computer systems and software applications, including port management platforms.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills to juggle concurrent documentation and compliance tasks.
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities in English to liaise with port staff, customs, and shipping agents.
• Meticulous attention to detail when processing documents and recording cargo information.
• Demonstrated integrity and reliability in handling sensitive customs and regulatory matters.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple departments and external stakeholders.
