ROLE DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose:
This role aims to conduct objective, independent, and reliable assessments of the Bank’s risk management practices, compliance with regulations, and internal control environment. It involves executing audit responsibilities by planning, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing, and reporting in accordance with professional auditing standards and the bank’s audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Planning:
- Plan and execute risk-based and compliance audits aligned with the work plan.
- Develop audit programs and testing procedures tailored to risk, compliance, and audit objectives.
- Assess key processes identified in the risk assessment during assignment planning.
- Identify internal control issues related to key risk processes to ensure thorough testing.
Audit Execution:
- Perform audit procedures to verify control effectiveness through testing and interactions.
- Ensure end-to-end completion of assigned audit engagements, including preplanning, fieldwork, and wrap-up activities.
- Utilize audit project management tools to track project progress.
- Prepare and maintain audit files, ensuring proper sign-off and filing of working papers.
- Conduct spot checks on critical areas like cash counts.
- Provide assessment and recommendations for achieving statutory and legal compliance.
Reporting:
- Draft audit reports outlining key risks identified during execution and their root causes.
- Discuss audit findings and recommendations with directors and department heads.
- Present control issues and offer practical, business-relevant solutions.
- Deliver high-quality audit reports in a timely manner.
- Provide specific and insightful recommendations for achieving statutory/legal compliance.
Monitoring and Follow-Up:
- Monitor the implementation progress of management action plans through tracking and follow-up audits.
- Foster productive relationships with clients and staff.
- Conduct ad-hoc investigations and reviews as requested by management or the Board Audit & Risk Committee (BARC).
- Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Internal Audit Manager.
Academic Background:
- Hold a university degree in business, preferably in accounting or finance from a recognized institution.
Work Experience:
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of auditing experience or a minimum of 5 years in bank operations.
Professional Certification:
- Hold a CPA and/or CIA and/or CISA certification.
