Key Duties Across Roles
- Execute water and sewerage operation, maintenance, and repair works according to supervisor directives and safety standards.
- Detect, repair, and prevent leaks in water supply lines, sewerage networks, and associated infrastructure.
- Perform installation, calibration, verification, and maintenance of meters and instrumentation across the water supply system.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and welding equipment including pumps, generators, motors, and fabrication work.
- Supervise field teams, coordinate work schedules, and ensure compliance with design specifications and building codes.
- Collect field data, conduct surveys, generate technical reports, and monitor system performance for planning and improvements.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, flushing units, and exhausters with adherence to safety protocols.
- Support non-revenue water reduction initiatives through meter testing, leak detection, data analysis, and customer verification activities.
- Provide technical support to engineering and operations teams in planning, design, tender documentation, and project supervision.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare progress reports, and coordinate across departments to ensure timely completion of assignments.
General Requirements
- Minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of D- or equivalent, or relevant diploma/degree depending on the role level.
- Trade test Grade III and above, or documented on-the-job experience in the relevant technical discipline (water/sewerage, mechanical, electrical, welding, masonry, carpentry, painting).
- Professional certifications as required: Plant Operator Certificate for heavy equipment roles; Valid NTSA driver’s license for vehicle operation; EPRA registration for electrical work; EBK/IEK registration for graduate engineers.
- Relevant work experience ranging from entry-level to 3 years post-qualification depending on the position grade.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in field conditions, including outdoor environments and occasional underground work in sewerage systems.
- For professional roles (engineers, surveyors, legal officers): Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution and registration with relevant professional bodies.
