Job Description
- Prepare weekly surveillance reports on Malaria and Typhoid to the sub-county disease surveillance department to assist in disease surveillance in the county;
- Prepare monthly reports to be submitted to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Finance and Planning to plan and monitor the performance of the University laboratory;
- Collect, prepare and perform laboratory procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases as requested by clinicians;
- Verify, record and report laboratory results on all performed tests to ensure that the results are correct and accurate;
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratory equipment to ensure equipment are in good working condition;
- Perform quality control on all lab reagents to ensure accurate results;
- Prepare lab reagents to be used in laboratory tests;
- Clean and decontaminate surfaces and manage laboratory wastes to prevent spread of infections;
- Chart fridge temperatures to ensure reagents are kept at the right temperature for accurate results;
- Enter laboratory data in the computer to assist in generation of lab reports; and
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specification for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, candidates must have:-
- Successfully completed three (3) year pre-service training in a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory technology
- Be registered with the Kenya medical laboratory technicians and technologists board With valid practicing license
- At least three (3) years post qualification working experience.
