About the Role
Inkomoko is hiring an Investment Analyst – Graduate Trainee to join its analytics team in Nairobi. This internship position places you at the center of investment decision-making, where you’ll contribute to portfolio management and business strategy through data analysis and insights. You’ll work alongside experienced analysts and senior leaders, tackling real projects that directly influence how the organization evaluates and manages its investment portfolio.
As a graduate trainee, you’ll develop expertise in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring while building practical skills in data analytics tools and financial reporting systems. The role is structured as a 12–24 month program designed to accelerate your entry into investment analytics, with clear progression and mentorship built in from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, clean, and prepare large datasets from internal platforms for analytical review and modeling.
- Design and manage interactive dashboards and reports that track portfolio performance, enabling informed strategic planning across the business.
- Build and improve automated reporting tools and analytical systems to enhance operational efficiency for underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and investment teams.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis for business units, identifying performance trends, market patterns, and risk indicators through data exploration.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to refine investment processes, including client assessment, credit evaluation, and ongoing portfolio oversight.
- Support Digital Transformation initiatives by participating in data-driven projects and technology improvements.
- Document analytical methodologies, assumptions, and findings to ensure reproducibility and institutional knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with Finance and Digital Transformation teams on financial reporting accuracy and data integration between systems.
- Analyze credit and investment data to identify patterns that strengthen risk controls and improve underwriting quality.
- Assist with audit readiness by maintaining organized documentation, validating data integrity, and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
- Recent graduate status with 0–2 years of professional work experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and statistical software for data analysis and modeling.
- Proven ability to design and build interactive dashboards using tools such as PowerBI, Looker, or equivalent platforms.
- Working knowledge of credit risk modeling, financial forecasting, and portfolio stress testing concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to break down complex questions into actionable steps.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy in all deliverables.
- Comfort learning independently while collaborating effectively in team settings; adaptability to shifting priorities.
