About the Role

Securex is recruiting Innovation Interns to support business transformation, process improvement, automation, and innovation work across the organisation. This full-time internship in Kenya is structured to give recent graduates and final-year students hands-on experience in real-world problem-solving, working on operational challenges that directly affect how the business runs. You will collaborate with teams across functions to analyse workflows, build digital solutions, and drive measurable improvements in efficiency and customer experience.

The Innovation Interns at Securex programme is tailored for analytical thinkers who want to develop practical skills in business analysis, data work, automation, and product thinking. You’ll choose one of two tracks — Business Analysis & Workflow Automation, or Data & Reporting — and contribute to live projects from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Track 1: Business Analysis, Workflow Automation & Product

  • Document current business processes and pinpoint inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and gaps in workflow design
  • Gather requirements from business users and convert them into clear user stories and technical specifications
  • Design improved workflows, approval processes, forms, dashboards, and automation solutions
  • Assist in implementing low-code and no-code tools including Airtable, JotForm, Power Automate, Odoo, Freshdesk, and SharePoint
  • Test system functionality, log defects, and support rollout and user training activities
  • Create standard operating procedures, process documentation, and training materials
  • Work with teams to streamline request handling, task management, approvals, reporting, and customer issue resolution
  • Contribute ideas on product design for internal tools and customer-facing digital services

Track 2: Data, Reporting & Automation

  • Clean, validate, and analyse operational and business data from multiple sources
  • Build dashboards and reports using Power BI, Airtable, Excel, and similar platforms
  • Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyse data sets
  • Apply Python for data cleaning, automation scripts, and analytical tasks
  • Support data integration between business systems and resolve data pipeline issues
  • Help define key performance indicators, metrics, and reporting standards with business teams
  • Automate repetitive reporting and administrative workflows using Power Automate, Airtable, or custom scripts
  • Identify data quality problems and recommend improvements to data capture and storage processes

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or final-year student with a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated interest in business analysis, process improvement, digital transformation, automation, data analytics, or technology-enabled business solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with capacity to identify improvement opportunities and develop practical solutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Careful attention to detail in process documentation, data analysis, and written communication
  • Solid communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive mindset and willingness to learn new tools and take ownership of assigned work
