About the Role
Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) is recruiting ICT Interns to join its technology team in Nairobi. These internship positions offer hands-on experience across network administration, systems management, and software development. The interns will support KIM’s IT operations while gaining practical exposure to enterprise-level infrastructure and applications used across the organisation.
The two internship roles are structured to provide targeted experience in different areas of information and communications technology. Both positions report to the ICT department and contribute to the optimal use of the institute’s technology resources and systems.
Open Positions
ICT Interns — Network & Infrastructure (Position 1)
- Manage and administer network systems, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure
- Implement and monitor enterprise network security protocols and access controls
- Track and optimise system performance across network devices and connected resources
- Maintain records and manage the ICT asset inventory, including hardware, software licenses, and infrastructure components
- Monitor servers and allocate network resources to ensure availability and efficiency
- Oversee remote access connectivity and manage user access permissions across the network
- Liaise with external vendors and suppliers for procurement, support, and maintenance services
ICT Interns — Systems & Software Development (Position 2)
- Perform systems administration tasks including user account management, system updates, and infrastructure monitoring
- Develop and customise software solutions with emphasis on Microsoft Dynamics Navision platforms
- Conduct system analysis, document business requirements, and contribute to system design activities
- Work across departments to understand user needs and translate them into technical specifications
- Gather and document user requirements through meetings and consultations
- Provide training to end users on system functionality and best practices for optimal use
- Deliver technical support to staff and resolve application-related issues
- Customise applications and integrate systems to align with business processes
- Identify opportunities for process automation and evaluate new ICT technologies for adoption
- Manage databases, perform backups, and ensure data integrity
- Assist with planning and execution of technology projects and system implementations
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, BBIT (Bachelor of Business Information Technology), Computer Science, or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
- Minimum six months of hands-on experience in ICT, OR a Diploma qualification with at least one year of practical experience in the field
- Industry certifications in relevant areas such as networking, systems administration, or software development are advantageous
- Practical knowledge of network administration tools and enterprise systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is beneficial for the systems development position
- Ability to document technical processes and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
