About the Role
Simba Group is recruiting for an Accountant to join its finance team in Nairobi on a full-time basis. This role sits at the center of financial operations, requiring someone who can maintain rigorous accounting standards while managing day-to-day financial processes. You will report to senior finance leadership and work closely with multiple departments to ensure the company’s books remain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready at all times.
The Accountant at Simba Group will handle a mix of transactional work and analytical responsibility. Your focus will be on preventing errors, processing transactions on time, identifying workflow gaps, and supporting the broader finance team with reporting and strategic insights. This is a role suited to someone with solid accounting foundations and the ability to think beyond data entry.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain complete accuracy in all financial records, reconcile accounts to zero variance, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
- Process refunds and other financial transactions promptly to support operational efficiency and maintain service standards across the organization.
- Prepare daily financial reports for senior management and ensure all ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation meet audit requirements.
- Collaborate with the centralized finance team to align accounting practices, share reporting, and coordinate on cross-functional financial matters.
- Manage cash and revenue reconciliation activities, monitor variances, and flag discrepancies for investigation and resolution.
- Handle payroll processing and calculate incentive payments accurately and on schedule.
- Review accounting workflows and processes to identify inefficiencies, then design and implement improvements that reduce errors and save time.
- Monitor VAT, statutory compliance, and tax obligations to protect the company from regulatory exposure.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- 4–5 years of hands-on experience in accounting, finance, or audit roles with demonstrated competency in core accounting processes.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software platforms; familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage.
- Proven ability to prepare financial projections, conduct variance analysis, and provide insights that support business decision-making.
- Experience working across departments and communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Solid grasp of VAT compliance, statutory reporting, and financial control frameworks.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems independently and escalate appropriately when needed.
