About the Role
Plainsview Hospital is recruiting an Executive Housekeeper to lead and oversee all housekeeping operations across the facility. This is a full-time position based in Kenya, reporting directly to senior management. The Executive Housekeeper at Plainsview Hospital will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of environmental hygiene, infection prevention, and safety compliance throughout the hospital estate.
This role sits at the intersection of clinical support and operational management. You will manage a team, enforce infection control protocols, and ensure the hospital environment meets all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all housekeeping operations and environmental hygiene standards across the hospital, ensuring consistent quality and cleanliness in clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Lead the implementation and enforcement of infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in line with hospital policy and national health guidelines.
- Establish and monitor quality, safety, and compliance protocols; conduct audits and corrective actions where standards are not met.
- Manage waste segregation, treatment, and disposal systems in compliance with environmental and health regulations.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping staff; manage schedules, performance, and workforce development.
- Procure, maintain, and allocate cleaning equipment and supplies; track inventory and control costs without compromising standards.
- Oversee laundry and linen services, including receiving, processing, storage, and distribution to ensure cleanliness and availability.
- Coordinate with clinical departments, maintenance, and administration to respond to environmental hazards and maintain service delivery during emergencies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ supervisory or management experience in housekeeping within a hospital or large institutional setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPC) practices and their application in healthcare environments.
- Proven experience managing waste disposal systems and ensuring environmental hygiene compliance.
- Certification in IPC, housekeeping management, or an equivalent qualification recognised by relevant health authorities.
- Ability to lead and manage staff, set performance standards, and maintain team discipline and morale.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to hospital housekeeping operations in Kenya.
