About the Role
Africa Talent Contours Limited is recruiting an Environmental Engineer for a full-time, onsite position based in Nairobi. This is a 12-month contract role with potential for renewal based on performance. The successful candidate will join a human resources services organisation that supports client operations across multiple sectors, taking on responsibility for environmental compliance, pollution control, and remediation activities.
The Environmental Engineer at Africa Talent Contours Limited will work within the Environment, Health and Safety field, designing and implementing systems to manage environmental risks. This engineering position in Nairobi requires hands-on involvement in site assessments, regulatory compliance, and technical reporting. You will report directly to management and coordinate with stakeholders on all environmental matters affecting facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee systems, processes, and equipment to control and reduce air, water, and soil pollution from operational activities.
- Obtain, renew, and maintain all required environmental permits while ensuring facility operations meet local and federal environmental regulations.
- Conduct site assessments and technical audits to evaluate environmental impact, assess waste disposal methods, and locate sources of contamination.
- Analyse environmental data, develop computer models, and prepare technical reports for presentation to management and regulatory authorities.
- Create and supervise remediation plans to decontaminate affected sites and safely manage identified environmental hazards.
- Perform full-time quality control surveillance and site inspections during installation phases and final commissioning of environmental systems.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience in environmental management and pollution control systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer modelling software relevant to environmental engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of biology and chemistry as applied to environmental processes.
- Proven ability to write clear, detailed technical reports for regulatory and stakeholder audiences.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable; familiarity with EPA standards, ISO 14001, or local environmental regulations is advantageous.
What to Expect
- Full-time engagement with a 48-hour working week (8 hours per day, 6 days per week); overtime beyond 8 hours daily or work on rest days and holidays is compensated at the base salary rate.
- Monthly salary of KSh 300,000–400,000 (approximately USD 2,500–3,000), paid monthly as take-home amount. Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided by the employer.
- Annual entitlements include up to 21 days of paid leave, 10 paid project holidays, and accrued sick leave of 2.67 hours per full month of service. International travel to your home country is provided by the employer at contract end.
