Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will provide strategic leadership and guidance to ensure optimal utilization and management of the Company’s resources, as outlined in the duties and responsibilities below.

Responsibilities

At this level, the responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the design and implementation of internal and external communication, advocacy, and media strategies and programs.
  • Offering technical advice to the Company’s staff in the fields of public communication and media relations.
  • Managing the Company’s public and media affairs.
  • Enhancing and profiling REAL’s corporate image and brand.
  • Supervising the editing of REAL’s publications and journals to ensure quality control.
  • Collaborating with the Office of the Managing Director on matters of communication and visibility.
  • Leading efforts to raise awareness and improve information accessibility within the Company.
  • Establishing and maintaining social media presence, including platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Developing a framework for publicity to enhance public awareness.
  • Overseeing the development of mechanisms for measuring customer satisfaction.
  • Maintaining records and photographs related to public affairs and communications.
  • Ensuring staff performance management, training, and development within the division.

Candidate Profile

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of service in the role of Senior Corporate Communications Officer or a comparable position in the public or private sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in fields like Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution will be an additional advantage.
  • Completion of a Strategic Leadership Course or Corporate Management course lasting a minimum of four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body.
  • Proficiency in computer applications from a recognized institution.
  • Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
  • Demonstrated professional competence and administrative capability as evidenced by work performance and results.
