Branch Manager Job Purpose

In this role, you will provide crucial support to Flex Money Transfer Limited by overseeing and managing the operations of the company branch.

Key Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Branch Security: Safeguarding branch keys and logins, and managing the branch’s opening and closing procedures.
  2. Teller Supervision: Overseeing the daily activities of tellers, ensuring smooth operations.
  3. Cash Management: Managing teller cash levels, including additions, verifications, withdrawals, transaction receipt filing, security maintenance, and cash balancing. Also, monitoring and authorizing cash movements within the branch.
  4. Motivating Tellers: Encouraging tellers to meet set goals and targets.
  5. Training: Ensuring tellers are well-trained in all aspects of their responsibilities to provide high-quality customer service.
  6. Currency Trading: Engaging in currency trading with banks at negotiated rates using the Fabit system.
  7. Due Diligence: Ensuring proper Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures are followed for Western Union, MoneyGram, Flexapp, Mpesa transactions, and foreign exchange (FX) transactions.
  8. Customer Communication: Providing routine information to customers and explaining changes in charges, transaction fees, and remittance services.
  9. Customer Support: Addressing customer requests, concerns, and problems, and directing them to the appropriate personnel for assistance when necessary.
  10. Rate Negotiation: Negotiating rates with customers while balancing customer satisfaction with the company’s FX profitability.
  11. Fraud Prevention: Safeguarding company and customer cash from fraud and identity theft through surprise checks and cash counts.
  12. Board Rates: Confirming and adjusting daily board rates based on interbank rates.
  13. Cash Level Maintenance: Ensuring the branch maintains the approved cash level as per insurance policies.
  14. Shortage Reporting: Investigating and reporting any teller shortages or excesses to the Head of Operations and HR for recovery.
  15. Security Vigilance: Reporting any suspicious activities or transactions, such as fake currencies, by walk-in clients in the branch.
  16. Petty Cash Management: Maintaining and overseeing branch petty cash.
  17. Reports and Reconciliations: Reviewing teller Fabit and remittance reports, and preparing and submitting daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations for Fabit, Remittance, Western Union, MoneyGram, petty cash, and USD cash pick-ups.


To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Previous experience in branch operations management.
  • Strong cash handling and management skills.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with Fabit is a plus.
