About the Role
Mini Group is recruiting an Assistant Sales Representative for its Nairobi operations. This is a full-time position supporting the sales team across the company’s diverse portfolio, which spans baking, real estate, construction, telecommunications, energy, auto spares, hospitality, manufacturing, trading, and microfinance. The Assistant Sales Representative at Mini Group will work under the Territory Sales Manager through the Sales Representative, focusing on pipeline development, performance monitoring, distributor coordination, and customer service delivery in a field-based environment.
The role demands someone comfortable with multi-location work, target accountability, and collaborative problem-solving. You’ll be responsible for translating sales strategy into on-ground execution, managing customer relationships, and providing the sales team with timely market intelligence and operational data.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily sales activities between the company and customers, including order follow-ups, delivery confirmations, and payment collection to ensure timely revenue realisation.
- Conduct market surveys to identify emerging trends, monitor competitor pricing and product quality, and submit findings to management for strategic planning.
- Maintain active customer contact, resolve complaints relating to product quality, service delivery, and staff conduct, while preserving customer loyalty and business continuity.
- Support the Sales Representative in monitoring distributor performance, analysing route efficiency, and collecting route data such as customer details, average sales, distances covered, delivery times, and operational challenges.
- Verify that products are sold at recommended prices through regular market checks, educate customers on pricing policy, and ensure compliance with merchandising standards and display requirements.
- Conduct spot-checks on delivery vehicles and teams to confirm adherence to route protocols, hygiene standards, crew conduct, and company compliance requirements.
- Prepare and submit daily route visit reports, monthly sales and mileage reports, customer data sheets, complaint logs, and other performance reports required for management decision-making.
- Support the identification and recruitment of new customers, exploration of new sales channels, and development of effective sales crews within the assigned territory.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a similar role within the FMCG sector.
- Valid driving licence, Class B, C, or E.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong product knowledge and understanding of FMCG sales operations and route management.
- Demonstrated ability in selling, negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving within a customer-facing environment.
- Solid analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to capture and interpret sales data accurately.
- Professional certification in a related field is advantageous.
