Senior Corporate Communications Officer
The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) is seeking a Senior Corporate Communications Officer to develop and implement strategic communication initiatives that support the Council’s regulatory mandate and organizational objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Council’s Corporate Communications and Visibility Strategy
- Coordinate communication initiatives aligned with the Council’s strategic objectives and regulatory mandate
- Manage the Council’s corporate image, reputation and brand identity
- Coordinate media relations, press briefings, interviews and media engagements
- Develop and disseminate communication materials including newsletters, annual reports, policy briefs, speeches and press releases
- Manage digital communication platforms including the Council website and social media channels
- Monitor media coverage and prepare media monitoring and analysis reports
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement, public awareness and advocacy programs
- Plan and implement communication campaigns, outreach activities and public education initiatives
- Produce multimedia communication content including photographs, videos and digital stories
- Coordinate communication support for Council meetings, conferences, workshops and official events
- Advise Management on communication, branding and reputation management matters
- Develop and maintain communication networks with government agencies, development partners and professional associations
- Respond to internal and external information requests
- Coordinate crisis communication and reputation management initiatives
- Support documentation of Council programs, projects, success stories and best practices
- Ensure compliance with communication policies and public sector communication standards
- Supervise staff within the Communications Unit
- Prepare departmental work plans, budgets and performance reports
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Corporate Communication, Mass Communication or related field from a recognized institution
- Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing such as the Media Council of Kenya or Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK)
- Certificate in Supervisory Course lasting not less than 2 weeks from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Communications Officer or comparable position
- Demonstrated professional competence and achievement in work performance
