Access Network Engineer
We are looking to recruit hardworking Access Network Engineer who will be responsible for capacity planning, solution design, technology roadmap development, network performance optimization, and providing technical leadership throughout the network lifecycle to ensure a resilient, scalable, and high-performing broadband access network.
ACESS NETWORK ENGINEER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement xPON/FTTx network capacity plans and forecasts to support business growth, customer demand, and service expansion.
- Design and engineer xPON/FTTx access network solutions, including preparing technical designs, network specifications, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with Systems and OSS/BSS teams to integrate OLTs, BNG/BRAS, and ACS platforms for seamless broadband service provisioning and authentication.
- Develop and maintain the xPON/FTTx technology roadmap, managing hardware and software lifecycles, upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Plan OLT uplink capacity and coordinate end-to-end network readiness with IP, Transmission, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Provide technical support throughout network deployment, commissioning, integration, migration, and acceptance testing to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance, capacity utilization, availability, and service quality, recommending and implementing improvement initiatives.
- Investigate and resolve network performance, capacity, interoperability, and service-related issues, conduct root cause analysis and support fault resolution activities.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate Proof of Concepts (PoCs), technology trials, and new solutions to support innovation, network evolution, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct field visits to implement approved Plans of Action (PoAs), support technical investigations, validate network performance, and ensure infrastructure quality.
- Participate in the 24/7 Planning & Engineering on-call roster, provide technical leadership during major network incidents, prepare engineering reports and documentation, and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACESS NETWORK ENGINEER
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Fiber Optic Network Design Certification. Project Management certification is an added advantage.
- CCNA/CCNP.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ hands-on experience designing and supporting xPON/FTTx networks.
- Experience with OLT/ONT platforms, access network technologies, and broadband service delivery.
- Experience working with telecom infrastructure projects and multi-vendor environments.
