About the Role

Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is seeking a Business Development Intern to join its Business Development Department in Nairobi. This freelance internship role offers support across administrative, coordination, and operational functions essential to advancing CHAK’s partnership and business development initiatives. The organisation works to strengthen healthcare delivery through member health facilities and community-based programmes affiliated with Protestant churches across Kenya.

As a Business Development Intern at Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK), you will work directly with the BD team to facilitate the implementation of partnership strategies, manage departmental operations, and contribute to the organisation’s mission of improving health outcomes through faith-based approaches. This role suits candidates with a background in business administration, development studies, economics, or public health who want hands-on experience in the health sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Business Development Department, including file management, record-keeping, and documentation organisation.
  • Handle departmental communications by responding to emails, fielding incoming calls, and greeting visitors.
  • Support the preparation of presentations, reports, and business documentation required for partnership activities.
  • Organise and coordinate departmental meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on agreed actions from business development initiatives.
  • Assist in partner due diligence processes and draft supporting documentation for partnership agreements.
  • Monitor and update partnership tracking tools, implementation matrices, and related databases.
  • Develop partner success stories for handover to the communications team.
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of departmental events and activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, International Relations, Development Studies, or Public Health.
  • Demonstrable understanding of project management, partnership frameworks, or programme development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with capacity to process data and present clear business cases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with business intelligence or CRM systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain high standards of integrity.
  • Alignment with CHAK’s mission and commitment to improving health outcomes through faith-based organisational approaches.
