About the Role

EAST – Kenya Assemblies of God University is recruiting a GroundsMan for their Nairobi campus. This is a full-time casual position focused on maintaining and developing the university’s outdoor spaces. The role requires someone with practical experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping who can work independently and as part of a team to keep the campus environment clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout the year.

The GroundsMan at EAST – Kenya Assemblies of God University will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of lawns, gardens, and external facilities across the campus. This includes routine maintenance tasks, equipment operation, and responding to seasonal changes in grounds condition. The position demands physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions while maintaining consistent standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain all campus lawns and grass areas through regular mowing, trimming, and watering
• Tend to garden beds, hedges, and planted areas to ensure they remain healthy and presentable
• Operate and maintain basic grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools safely and effectively
• Keep outdoor facilities, pathways, and common areas clean and free from debris
• Monitor campus grounds for damage or maintenance issues and report problems to management
• Perform seasonal maintenance tasks including pruning, planting, and preparation for weather changes
• Work flexibly on weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays when required

Requirements & Qualifications

• KCSE Certificate or equivalent secondary school qualification
• A minimum of one year of hands-on experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening, or related field work
• Demonstrated knowledge of lawn care techniques, garden maintenance, and outdoor facility upkeep
• Ability to operate standard grounds maintenance equipment and basic tools with competence
• Physical fitness and capability to work outdoors consistently across different weather conditions
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for teamwork with other campus staff
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekend shifts
