Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate data collection and evaluation processes to confirm they meet organizational standards and program needs.
  • Set up, monitor, and enforce data management protocols across all collection points and systems.
  • Conduct training sessions with staff on proper use of data management tools, equipment, and systems.
  • Establish data quality benchmarks and verify compliance with those standards on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee agreements with software vendors responsible for data collection and management platforms.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure data management software functions reliably and the overall system operates as intended.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues affecting data collection, storage, or reporting.
  • Coordinate software updates and patches, ensuring staff receive training on new features and changes.
  • Verify that data management systems meet all applicable national and county regulatory requirements.
  • Review the data management system periodically and recommend operational improvements.
  • Produce routine reports tailored for different departments and management levels within Kenya Red Cross Society.
  • Ensure the organization’s submissions to national and county health information systems are accurate and timely.
  • Prepare specialized reports as requested by leadership or program teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Health Information Systems or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience managing routine and non-routine data for community-based health programs, including IDSR (Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response) data.
  • Proficiency with the current KHIS (Kenya Health Information System) platform, including data upload procedures and report generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform programming or statistical analysis using at least one of the following: SPSS, STATA, MySQL, or SharePoint technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of data management software and systems used in health settings.
  • Solid grasp of mathematical concepts and proven organizational ability.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to explain technical or complex data concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet research tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to liaise effectively across departments.
