About the Role

M-KOPA Solar is recruiting a Sales Executive to drive revenue growth and build team capability across Kenya. This is a full-time position that combines hands-on sales performance with field team leadership. You will operate as a player-coach, balancing your own sales targets with the responsibility of recruiting, training, and developing a Direct Sales Representative team. The role is based in Kenya and reports directly into the sales leadership structure.

In the renewable energy and financial services sector, the Sales Executive at M-KOPA Solar plays a central role in market expansion. You will manage local marketing activities, oversee inventory controls, ensure compliance, and generate the reporting that informs M-KOPA’s sales strategy. Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a strong local network across your assigned area, identifying new customer segments and growth opportunities
  • Meet and exceed individual sales targets consistently, ensuring each customer interaction reinforces M-KOPA’s brand reputation and trust
  • Recruit, onboard, and train a field-based team of Direct Sales Representatives, setting clear performance standards from day one
  • Monitor team performance against targets, provide coaching and development support, and build their capability to sustain results over time
  • Oversee Direct Sales Representative inventory management, ensuring stock levels align with demand and minimize losses
  • Manage and monitor local marketing campaigns, tracking effectiveness and adjusting tactics based on market response
  • Complete audit compliance requirements and maintain accurate reporting that feeds into regional and national sales strategy
  • Hold team members accountable to performance standards while creating an environment where they can develop professionally

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven track record of exceeding individual sales targets in field sales roles within FinTech, Microfinance, Telecommunications, FMCG, or a related sector
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a field-based sales team, with a clear record of successful team recruitment and capability development
  • Ability to build accountability within a team and drive consistent performance improvements
  • Strong knowledge of or established networks within the local area where you will operate
  • Experience with sales compliance, reporting, and operational procedures in a regulated or fast-moving environment
  • Ability to balance personal revenue generation with team leadership responsibilities
