Storekeeper at U.S. Embassy to Kenya – U.S. Embassy to Kenya Kenya Job Details

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will serve as one of three (3) storekeepers and will be responsible for the following:

  • Overseeing the receipt, storage, issuance, and inventory of both expendable and non-expendable supplies and equipment in the storerooms and warehouse.
  • Rotating through multiple sections within the warehouse as directed by the Supervisor, for varying periods depending on warehouse needs.
  • Receiving supervision from the Deputy Warehouse Supervisor, which may be delegated to one of three Supply Supervisors, all under the overall general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in supply responsibilities related to warehouse operations.
  • One year of experience in safely using and operating Material Handling Equipment.

Job Knowledge:

  • A good working knowledge of the Department of State property management policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with associated agencies’ property record-keeping.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School.

Evaluations:

Language:

  • Level III English (Good working knowledge in writing, reading, and speaking) is required. (This may be tested).
  • Level II Kiswahili (Limited Knowledge in writing, reading, and speaking) is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be capable of managing stock and organizing the placement of property in a safe sequence.
  • Ability to disburse property according to embassy rules and ensure the safekeeping of property to prevent misplacement, damage, or theft.
  • Capable of performing light lifting of expendable and non-expendable items (approximately 20 kgs).
  • Numerical skills for manipulating property data.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
