School Librarian at Nova Pioneer

ROLE DESCRIPTION

In this role, you will be responsible for:

1. Assisting and guiding young visitors in locating and effectively utilizing library resources.
2. Developing and maintaining an up-to-date library policy.
3. Managing the library’s online content, ensuring its relevance and accuracy.
4. Organizing and categorizing books on the library shelves.
5. Keeping a comprehensive and current record of library patrons.
6. Overseeing the school’s Integrated Library System.
7. Facilitating the daily circulation of library materials.
8. Collaborating with the school community to acquire pertinent library materials.
9. Cataloging new additions to the collection.
10. Supporting patrons in accessing digital resources such as E-books, Audio books, and Audio-Visual materials.
11. Ensuring the proper condition of library materials, replacing items in case of loss or damage.
12. Handling inquiries through various channels, including in-person, email, and telephone.
13. Establishing and maintaining relationships with publishers and vendors to ensure an updated catalog of books.
14. Contributing to the preparation of the library’s budget and overseeing fine payments for damages or loss.
15. Ensuring the smooth daily operations of the library.
16. Collaborating with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), school teams, and students to organize engaging library events.
17. Compiling and submitting requested library reports and inventory.
18. Undertaking any additional duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Library and Information Science, Library Science, or Records Management.
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a dynamic library environment.
• Highly desirable: Experience in establishing and managing a school library from inception.
• Proficiency in using Google Suite platforms and computer applications.
• Familiarity with working with databases and Integrated Library Systems.
• Awareness of current trends in library services for children and young adults.
• Approachable demeanor and exceptional interpersonal skills.
